The author of this postcard, the prolific illustrator Xavier Sager (1870-1930), specialised in producing caricatures on humorous and spicy subjects.
On this postcard he represents a soldier with a gun firing a shot and does a play on words as “tirer un coup” not only means to fire a shot, but can also mean to have a sexual relationship.
A subtle and delicate postcard, all that remains is to add the name of the adressee and the sender.
